Volunteer-to-Hire## About This Role Our events are where the magic happens. As Director of Engagement, you'll oversee in-person programming across all Sober Outdoors chapters — from Denver snowshoe hikes to Austin trail runs. You'll build systems that scale, manage chapter leaders, and work alongside our Director of Community to create seamless member journeys from first click to first summit. Volunteer-to-Hire:
This role begins as a volunteer position. As Sober Outdoors grows and secures funding, high-performing volunteers in this role will be among the first considered for paid positions. We are committed to converting these roles as our budget allows.## Responsibilities
* Oversee event strategy and execution across Denver, Portland, San Diego, Boston, Austin, and expansion markets
* Manage and support chapter leads and event ambassadors
* Build and maintain scalable event operations, SOPs, and volunteer systems
* Collaborate with the Director of Community on member experience and retention
* Partner with brand sponsors and local vendors for gear, activations, and logistics
* Report on attendance, member impact, and event KPIs## Requirements
* 3+ years in event management, outdoor programming, or nonprofit operations
* Comfortable leading both in-person and virtual programming
* Experience managing distributed teams or chapters
* Passion for the outdoors and personal connection to wellness or recovery
* Organized, adaptable, and energized by bringing people together## Benefits & Perks
