Managing Director, People and Operations (MDPOps)
The Managing Director, People and Operations (MDPOps) will serve as CY Denver's main owner of site culture and operational practices to drive outcomes and people satisfaction. This site leader works closely with the Senior Vice President/Executive Director to execute CY Denver's strategic plan and is a member of the site's Senior Leadership Team (SLT). The MDPOps will work collaboratively with the Managing Director of Impact and Managing Director of Development to ensure the site is engaging in ways that align to organizational values, traditions, and aspirations.
The MDPOps will lead the day-to-day operations and local Ameri Corps Member recruitment for the site and play a critical role in ensuring staff and Ameri Corps Members (ACMs) have the necessary tools and resources to drive student impact and ACM experience. The MDPOps reports to the Executive Director and this is a hybrid role.
- College degree or equivalent education and work experience required
- 5-7 years of experience successfully leading cross-functional teams, managing Human Resources/people work, and leading strategic operations
- Authorized documentation to work in the United States of America
- Demonstrated ability to lead directors and managers in the creation and implementation of multi-faceted operating plans and budgets
- Proven success in developing collaborative relationships, coaching, and interactive trainings with clear outcomes for adult learners
- Strong passion for and commitment to City Year's mission of delivering high impact service to children and schools; developing young adults participating in national service; promoting and advancing the concept of voluntary national service; belief in youth as agents of social change
The MDPOps will perform the following roles and responsibilities as described below:
People Strategy- Team and Learning Culture
- Partner with the Executive Director, lead a data-driven and best-practice informed strategy to foster a joyous and intentional staff culture, including professional development and staff engagement initiatives. - Workforce Planning
- Partner with Executive Director to develop strategic workforce planning initiatives, including staff professional development plan, succession planning map, and staffing structure adjustments as needed. - Staff Engagement – Continuously innovate plan for engaging staff team of 10-12 and annual Ameri Corps Member cohort of 40-60; cultivate an informed community by partnering with Executive Office to deliver clear and transparent internal communications and trainings on key topics; facilitate new staff trainings related to operations, finance and technology; in partnership with Senior Leadership, facilitate whole team retreats and Village meetings.
- Talent Acquisition and Onboarding – Develop strategies to seek and develop new partnerships for sourcing talent; lead department staff to facilitate full local hiring and onboarding processes, resulting in effective and timely hires; with input from and in partnership with the hiring manager, plan and execute onboarding and orientation plans for new team members.
- Employee Relations
- Partner with City Year Headquarters and local staff to investigate and address grievances, concerns or misconduct or accommodation requests of staff or Student Success Coaches; coach and support staff managers in performance improvement plans, coaching plans, and terminations - Administration and Compliance
- Ensure all org-wide policies are executed at the local level; ensure that federal, state, local, and partner district policies are followed and that all background checks are conducted and monitored appropriately. - Comp and Benefits Liaison – serve as lead site liaison to City Year Headquarters on local matters related to compensation and benefits;
Cultivate local incentive and reward sources that compliment CY Denver benefits.
