Chief Operating Officer

Plan, direct, coordinate, manage, and supervise operational functions within the district, including Maintenance and Operations, Custodial, Transportation, Risk Management, Construction and Planning, and Real Estate. Provide leadership and support for District initiatives, including long‑range planning and bond construction projects. This position will serve on the Superintendent’s cabinet and various district committees.

• Lead, coordinate, and evaluate systems, processes, and employees, including:
  • Transportation Department
  • Maintenance and Operations Department
• Develop strategies and procedures to create and maintain functional facilities, ensuring efficient operations and adequate learning environments.
• Oversee, facilitate, and participate in the following district committees, and any other committees as needed:
  • Long‑range Facility Planning Committee (annually)
  • Design Advisory Committees (at various levels/when needed)
  • Capital Reserve Committee (annually)
  • Boundary Committee (when needed)
  • Bond Steering Committee (when needed)
  • Bond Oversight Committee
• Manage the Capital Reserve budget.
• Work closely with demographers to adequately prepare for long‑term growth. This includes enrollment projections, enrollment monitoring, school capacity planning, boundary changes, and related activities.
• Conduct meetings with architects, contractors, and city and/or county planners to plan for district growth.
• Work with governmental agencies on cash‑in‑lieu agreements and other intergovernmental agreements.
• Represent District and Superintendent.
• Attend Board of Education meetings and advise the Superintendent and the Board of Education, as needed.
• Participate as a member of the District Leadership Team.
• Oversee district leases, including land leases, oil, and gas.
• Oversee district water rights and contracts.
• Recommend district land acquisitions, purchases, and sales to the Superintendent.
• Ensure budget procedures are in place to maintain budget spending limitations.
• Oversee the district Risk Management program.
• Hire, supervise, and evaluate staff.
• Able to present and communicate in a variety of settings, including staff, students, community groups, and the Board of Education.
• Attend work and arrive in a timely manner.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business, finance, educational administration, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years related experience in public school leadership and development of district wide operations:
  • Budget development and management.
  • School central administration.
  • Public school business administration.
  • Facility construction and/or maintenance.
  • Communications.
  • Enrollment and space planning.
  • Other related operational activities.
