The Repacking Specialist is responsible for repackaging food products safely, accurately, and efficiently while ensuring compliance with food safety, quality, and regulatory standards. This role supports product integrity by performing inspections, maintaining traceability, and following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), allergen controls, and sanitation requirements. The position plays a key role in ensuring products are properly prepared for storage or shipment within a controlled warehouse environment.
Scopeof Responsibility
- Perform repacking operations in compliance with food safety, quality, and regulatory standards (GMPs, allergen controls, SQF)
- Ensure product integrity through accurate verification, handling, and labeling practices
- Identify, report, and control nonconforming products and food safety risks
- Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized work environment
- Safely operate equipment and handle materials to support efficient warehouse operations
- Support traceability, recall readiness, and overall compliance with company procedures
- Follow approved sanitation and pre-operational inspection procedures for workstations, tools, and equipment prior to use.
- Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), including proper hygiene, handwashing, and contamination prevention.
- Comply with all food safety and quality management system requirements, including proper use of PPE.
- Follow allergen control procedures, including segregation, label verification, and prevention of cross‑contact.
- Maintain strict control of foreign material risks (e.g., plastic, metal, damaged packaging).
- Report all food safety hazards, quality concerns, or unsafe conditions immediately to management or SQF personnel.
- Comply with product hold, recall, and traceability procedures as required.
- Participate in required food safety, allergen, and SQF training programs.
- Inspect food items for quality, damage, and expiration prior to repacking.
- Verify product identity, lot codes, expiration dates, and traceability information before and after repacking.
- Place any nonconforming, damaged, or suspect product on hold and notify appropriate personnel.
- Ensure all finished products meet quality standards before storage or shipment.
- Unpack products from original packaging and repackage into new containers, bags, or boxes.
- Assemble packaging materials and seal containers properly.
- Accurately label all repacked products to maintain traceability and compliance, including allergen declarations, lot and date coding.
- Operate packaging, sealing, and labeling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Move finished goods to designated storage areas.
- Stack and organize products safely to prevent damage or contamination.
- Support general warehouse operations and perform other assigned tasks as needed.
- Clean and maintain work areas, equipment, and tools to meet food safety and hygiene standards.
- Ensure packaging materials and work spaces remain orderly and contamination‑free.
- High School Diploma/GED preferred.
- Basic understanding of food safety principles, including GMPs, sanitation, allergen awareness, and cross‑contamination prevention preferred
- Warehouse experience preferred
- General knowledge of warehouse terminology and tasks.
- General math knowledge.
- Must be able to read, write and communicate in English as it relates to the job and to the safety regulations.
- Must be able to use computer and scanning equipment.
- Experience in a fast‑paced environment
- Attention to detail is a "must"
- Able to effectively communicate with Supervisors, Managers, and Crew Members and work as a team
- Ability to follow written SOPs, work instructions, and food safety policies accurately and consistently
- Commitment to food safety culture, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Willing and able to cross train
- Warehouse environment
- Lift and move boxes weighing up to 25 pounds, standing, walking, bending, twisting, sitting, reaching
- Some overtime may be required
- Work is performed in a food handling environment requiring strict adherence to food safety, sanitation, allergen control, and personal hygiene requirements at all times
