About this role

ESS Metron is looking for a detail‑oriented Shipping Clerk to join our Shipping & Receiving team. This hands‑on role is responsible for verifying, preparing, and processing outgoing and incoming shipments in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment. The Shipping Clerk plays a critical role in ensuring that products leave our facility accurately documented, properly packaged, and on time.

This position is based out of our Distribution Center near 70th Ave exiting I-25.

What you’ll be doing
  • Champion a Safety First culture at all times.
  • Compare identifying information and count, weigh, or measure items of outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
  • Determine method of shipment and affix shipping labels on packed cartons or stencil identifying shipping information onto containers.
  • Assemble wooden or cardboard containers, or select pre‑assembled containers; insert items and secure with nails, staples, or metal banding as needed.
  • Create custom pallets or crates using raw wood, a saw, and a nail gun as needed.
  • Stamp, stencil, or glue identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers.
  • Post weights and shipping charges and affix postage.
  • Examine outgoing shipments to ensure they meet specifications.
  • Maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
  • Operate a forklift or use a hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from the shipping and receiving platform to storage or work areas.
  • Utilize the ERP system and vendor online portals to record, monitor, and track shipments and parts.
What you’ll have
  • High school diploma or GED; plus one year of related shipping/warehouse experience, or three to five years of equivalent work experience.
  • Knowledge of shipping procedures, freight documentation, and carrier requirements.
  • Familiarity with warehouse operations, inventory control practices, and manufacturing workflow.
  • Ability to accurately prepare, verify, and process shipping labels, bills of lading, and packing lists.
  • Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS), ERP software, and standard shipping platforms.
  • Ability to safely operate material‑handling equipment such as pallet jacks, forklifts, or hand trucks.
  • Strong attention to detail and effective communication skills to coordinate with production, warehouse teams, and external carriers.
  • Strong time‑management and organizational skills to prioritize multiple shipments in a fast‑paced environment.

Physical requirements and work environment
  • Day shifts, and some weekend work required.
  • This position operates in an active manufacturing facility.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock.
  • The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Use of standard office equipment is necessary, and the employee may need to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs
