Overview:
The terminal operator is responsible for the daily shipping operators of all cement products while complying with all applicable mining regulations and/or Mountain Cement policies at all times. Basic qualifications and/or traits that the shipping operator must possess include:

  • Have a working knowledge of the ability to learn shipping operations and material flows.
  • Must be able to perform basic mathematics with accuracy.
  • A strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Have reliable attendance and safety records.
  • Be able to work without constant supervision.
  • Be able to give and take directions.
  • Must be able to work with the public in person and over the telephone in efficient and courteous manner.
  • Knowledge of safe and productive operation of mobile equipment.
  • Must be physically fit.
  • Responsibilities:
    The responsibilities of a Terminal operator include but are not limited to:

  • Safety inspections of all working areas shall be performed a minimum of once per shift as required by federal mining regulations. Additional inspections may be performed as conditions warrant.
  • Prepares railroad bulk cars for unloading. Inspects and cleans interiors of bulk cars when necessary. Reports damage or adverse conditions to supervisor. Opens and closes bottom hatches of bulk cars as required.
  • May move rail cares and spot trucks to facilitate loading operations. Required both manually and with a Track mobile, move railcars with manual tool designed for moving rail equipment.
  • Operate cement extraction and conveying system machinery as required to provide cement loadout.
  • Performs operations checks and lubrication on all conveying equipment; air slides screw conveyors, drives, dust collectors, loading spouts, railroad rail, etc. reporting adverse conditions to supervisor.
  • Measure cement level in storage silos via elevator, stairway, or ladders.
  • May occasionally clean silo interiors.
  • Repair pumps, screws, bucket elevators, air slides, dust collectors, loading spouts, and hoppers.
  • The Terminal Operator is responsible for performing housekeeping duties in his/her work area to remove hazards. Work activities must be performed while adhering to all applicable federal/state regulations, MCC company policies, and environmental regulations at all times. Clean up of the Terminal Operators work area on a regular basis is the responsibility of the employee performing the work, messes and leftover materials are not to be left for other MCC personnel to clear.

    A job is not finished until clean up of the work area is completed.
