Bulk Sweeper – Union

As a Bulk Sweeper, you will be responsible for ensuring the sanitation and cleanliness of sections of the facility, learning the basics of flour milling, and cross-train in at one or more workstations in the business. People who successfully adapt to the work environment, job duties and safety culture of Ardent Mills will be considered for promotion into other roles as they become available in the grain elevator, mill floor, or packing lines.

Your responsibilities:

• Routine cleaning of floors, stairs, equipment, roofs and outside grounds. Use brooms, shovels, dust mop as needed.
• Adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
• Detailed cleaning of floors, in, around, under and behind equipment.
• Blowing down of overheads and catwalks from either elevated surfaces or ladders.
• Sweep and shovel product spills.
• Dump product and trash tubs.
• Document completion of MSS assignments for individual areas of warehouse area including outside rail and loading area and packaging floor.
• Routine feeding in of reclaim product, ability to frequently handle individual 25lb and 50lb bags.
• Use of forklift in moving reclaim product, product rejected from palletizer.
• Use of water and manual labor in and around loading, dock and rail yard area.
• Working knowledge of and ability to use computers.
• Performs all Food Safety Tasks in work area, keeps up with MSS tasks and signs off at the appropriate frequencies.
• Responsible for understanding and following all personnel and equipment safety and food safety policies, sanitation policies, and following all Company policies and procedures.
• Ascend and descend stairs throughout the facility.
• Any other sanitation or cleaning task assigned to complete in order to maintain our Environmental, Health, Employee Safety and Food Safety Standards.
• Climb ladders and work from heights.
• Communicate effectively with peers and supervisors.
• May be required to operate mobile equipment. Will receive training and certification in mobile equipment operation as appropriate.
• Other job tasks and functions as assigned by management.

Essential skills and experience:

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong reading comprehension, writing, and math skills.
• Proficient in computer tools including email and Microsoft Suite.
• Proficient in English both written and verbally.

Physical requirements and working conditions (with or without reasonable accommodation):

• Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Able to work in a dusty environment and wear respiratory protection.
• Able to climb stairs through the workday.
• Able to stand through the entire workday.

Other considerations:

• Must be willing to accept accountability and work well in a team.
• Must be willing and able to work different shifts, weekends, Holidays, 7-day weeks, and opposing shifts when needed.
• Must be willing to get cross-trained in at least one other position for development within the facility and to provide any relief duties as needed.

Team members must be clean shaven in order to perform tasks where respiratory protection is required and the use of a respirator (including N-95 dust mask) requires a proper seal for adequate protection.
