Job Description & Responsibilities- Picks copper and fluff off moving conveyor, assists shredder mechanics in changing out conveyors and bearing shafts, and greases bearings.
- Keeps the work area clean and ready for daily operations.
- Ensures conveyor bearings are clean and properly greased.
- Picks and sorts quality material.
- Reports any issues immediately as they arise.
- Assists shredder mechanics during projects.
- Assists in meeting monthly production goals.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Performs lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures before working on any plant equipment.
- Cross‑trains in other departments to provide coverage during short staffing.
- Completion of high school diploma, GED, or passing the company comprehensive assessment.
- Ability to push, pull, and lift materials up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand for up to 12 hours, with regular walking, squatting, climbing, bending, and twisting.
- Willingness and ability to work in variable weather conditions, including hot, dry summers and cold, harsh winters.
- Ability to learn and follow direction.
- Self‑motivated: takes initiative and acts proactively.
- Strong work ethic: uses time efficiently, works safely, and ensures those around them are safe.
- Strong command of English, both written and spoken.
- Recycling or mining experience is considered an asset.
- Mechanical inclination is considered an asset.
- Occasional additional hours, including weekends, may be required.
