Job Summary

The Foundation Development Manager is responsible for designing and implementing a comprehensive annual fundraising plan, including building an annual giving program that engages individual, corporate, and foundation donors. This role will also focus on creating a major gift program by cultivating and stewarding potential major donors with the goal of securing multiple individual and corporate contributions of $10,000 or more within three years.

The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, relationship-builder, and skilled communicator who thrives in a fast-paced nonprofit environment. The successful candidate will build the clinic's fundraising program and be capable of stepping into a Director role as fundraising revenue and the development department grows.

The Foundation Development Manager is a 1.0 FTE equivalent position devoted to Uptown Community Health Center.

Essential Functions

Upholds the Mission, Vision, and Values of Uptown Community Health Center.

Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy environment by adhering to organization standards, policies, and procedures, and to legal regulations; alerting others with potential concerns.

Communicates in a professional, clear, effective, and compassionate way with patients, visitors, and coworkers. Both in person, on the telephone, and with written communication.

Annual Giving Program
  • Develops and executes a robust annual giving strategy to grow support from individuals, corporations, and foundations.
  • Manages all aspects of annual campaigns, including appeals, digital outreach, and donor communications.
  • Implements and manages donor data systems (CRM) to ensure accurate tracking, segmentation, and reporting.
Major Donor Cultivation
  • Identifies and manages a portfolio of prospective major individual and corporate donors, applying moves management principles to deepen engagement.
  • Creates personalized cultivation and stewardship plans to build long-term relationships and secures gifts of $10,000+ within three years.
  • Partners with leadership and board members to support donor meetings, presentations, and solicitations.
Corporate and Foundation Relations
  • Secures corporate contributions and foundation grants to support organizational priorities.
  • Writes compelling proposals and reports for funding opportunities.
  • Maintains strong relationships with institutional partners and ensure timely recognition and stewardship.
Events and Campaigns
  • Plans and executes high-impact fundraising events that align with revenue goals and donor engagement strategies.
  • Provides materials and coaching for peer-to-peer fundraising efforts.
Data, Reporting, and Compliance
  • Engages with leadership team to establish annual fundraising goals and develop and implement annual fundraising plans to achieve those goals.
  • Utilizes CRM systems to maintain donor records, track progress, and generate reports.
  • Monitors fundraising performance and adjust strategies based on data insights.
Community Engagement
  • Represents the organization at community events, networking opportunities, and donor meetings to enhance visibility and strengthen relationships.
Other Duties as Assigned Performance Indicators
  • Growth in annual giving revenue and donor base.
  • Successful cultivation and solicitation of major gifts ($10,000+).
  • Achievement of annual fundraising goals.
  • Positive feedback from donors and stakeholders.
Licensure / Certification

None

Qualifications and Experience Required
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 3-5 years in nonprofit fundraising, with experience in annual giving and donor cultivation
  • Proven success in building donor relationships and securing contributions to achieve fundraising goals
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to present the case for support effectively
  • Excellent organizational and project and relationship management skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and manage multiple priorities
Preferred
  • Experience managing annual funds programs
  • Familiarity with grant writing and corporate sponsor ships
  • Experience working with and sensitivity toward special populations, including those with limited income, limited education, and non-English speaking individuals
