Nonprofit Leadership Internship

Overview

The Borgen Project is an international organization that works at the political level to improve living conditions for people impacted by war, famine and poverty. The organization has 20 years of experience in the advocacy space and works to support the passage of bills that benefit people in developing countries. This is an unpaid, remote internship focused on nonprofit leadership development.

• Advocacy Leadership Development – Meet with members of Government in your District/Constituency; represent The Borgen Project at various business, political and community events; mobilize individuals to contact their members of Government in support of key poverty-reduction legislation.
• Fundraising Development – Learn how to fundraise. Create a personal fundraising campaign and meet targets.
• Recruitment – Update job postings; inform groups and classes of openings; introduce recruitment platforms and participate in interviews.
• Marketing and Promotion – Pitch story ideas to print, broadcast and digital media and develop strategies for web-based messaging.

• Experience – No prior experience is necessary; we’re looking for people who are passionate about fighting poverty and righting wrongs, regardless of GPA/background.

• Start Date – New programs begin every month; you choose the month you wish to start.
• Compensation – This is an unpaid internship, although college credit is available.
• Program Structure – Part-time, 12 hours per week for 12 weeks, remote internship. If your availability is limited, you can work ahead and complete the program in fewer weeks.
