Donor Development Manager

The Donor Development Manager is responsible for building deep, lasting relationships with a dedicated portfolio of up to 150 JCC Denver donors and prospects, generally closing gifts in the $1,000 to $10,000 range. This role identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards individual donors, moving them through a continuum of relationships from first connection to sustained, growing investment in the JCC's mission. A starting portfolio will be assigned  Donor Development Manager works closely with the Chief Development Officer and fellow development team members to advance a culture of philanthropy across the JCC.

This is a relationship-first role. While the Donor Development Manager will draw on donor data, moves management tracking, and giving history to prioritize and personalize outreach, the focus of the position is direct donor contact, including face-to-face visits, calls, written stewardship, and event-based engagement, rather than database administration or event planning.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES Portfolio Management and Donor Relations
  • Manage an assigned portfolio of up to 150 donor and prospect relationships, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding individuals with a focus on gifts in the $1,000 to $10,000 range.
  • Develop individualized cultivation and solicitation strategies for each portfolio member, including regular in-person visits, calls, and personal correspondence.
  • Engage with new and existing donors on an ongoing basis, working from the JCC's wealth screening and prospect research to identify and welcome individuals into active cultivation.
  • Lead and close gift solicitations directly, partnering with the Chief Development Officer on larger or more complex asks.
  • Provide thoughtful, prompt, and personal stewardship for every gift in the portfolio, including acknowledgement, impact reporting, and recognition aligned to donor interests.
  • Track moves management stages and donor cycle engagement activities in Salesforce, keeping portfolio status current and actionable.
  • Work with the Chief Development Officer to set portfolio goals, track progress, and adjust strategy as needed.
  • Attend Development Committee meetings as well as other internal fundraising meetings as needed to share portfolio updates and donor insights.
  • Partner with program staff across ELS, Camps, Mizel Arts Center, Sports and Fitness, and Community Engagement to identify donor connection points relevant to portfolio members.
  • Support sponsorship cultivation and solicitation for signature events such as Todah, working with assigned portfolio donors and prospects.
  • Play a supporting role in fundraising and donor coordination for capital campaigns and anniversary initiatives as they arise, including identifying and cultivating portfolio donors with capacity and interest in campaign priorities. Other duties may be assigned associated with these types of campaigns.
  • Represent the JCC at community and donor events as a visible, relationship-oriented presence.

  • Maintain accurate, current records of all portfolio activity in Salesforce, including contact reports, moves management stages, and gift history.
  • Use donor data and Wealth Engine screening insights to prioritize portfolio activity and identify upgrade opportunities.
  • Provide regular progress reports to the Chief Development Officer on portfolio activity, pipeline movement, and revenue against goal.

Minimum Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent professional experience.

Required Experience
  • At least three years of frontline fundraising experience
  • Demonstrated track record of cultivating and closing individual gifts.
  • Demonstrated ability to build authentic, trust-based relationships with donors and volunteers at all levels.
  • Confidence and skill in making direct, in-person solicitations, including asks at significant gift levels.
