• Clinical Leadership:

  • Overseeing the delivery of nursing care to residents, ensuring it aligns with established standards and protocols.

  • Assessing resident needs, developing individualized care plans, and monitoring progress.

  • Providing clinical guidance and support to nursing staff.

• Staff Management:

  • Recruiting, hiring, and onboarding new nursing staff

  • Training and developing nursing staff through ongoing education and performance evaluations

  • Scheduling and assigning nursing staff to meet resident needs

  • Addressing staff concerns and maintaining a positive work environment

• Quality Assurance:

  • Implementing and monitoring quality improvement initiatives to ensure high standards of care

  • Reviewing resident records and charting to ensure accuracy and compliance

  • Identifying and addressing potential quality issues

• Regulatory Compliance:

  • Staying informed about and adhering to all local, state, and federal regulations related to nursing home care

  • Ensuring the facility is compliant with quality standards and reporting requirements

• Administrative Duties:

  • Managing the nursing department budget and allocating resources effectively

  • Monitoring staffing levels and making adjustments as needed

  • Participating in resident care conferences and meetings

Required qualifications for a Director of Nursing position:

• Current registered nurse (RN) license

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree preferred

• Significant experience in nursing leadership roles within a long‑term care setting

• Strong clinical skills and knowledge of geriatric nursing practices

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Proven ability to manage teams and budgets

• Understanding of healthcare regulations and compliance requirements
