Position:
Residential Recovery Nurse – Monday through Friday, 6:30 am to 2:30 pm.

Salary Grade 12 (LPN): $62,920 – $67,496
Salary Grade 15 (RN): $74,030 – $94,270
Hiring Bonus: $2,500 on each of 1‑month, 6‑month, and 12‑month anniversaries ($7,500 total).

DescriptionThe Residential Recovery Nurse will provide medication monitoring for the Residential/Inpatient program. The role oversees all medication processes and administers medications to patients. Responsibilities include psychiatric and substance‑use nursing services, coordinating medication management, identifying physical problems affecting mental health, delivering patient education, and collaborating with the Medical Director and other providers.
Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required- AARN, BSRN, MSRN or LPN with ≥2 years of experience and/or training in a behavioral‑health setting.
- Bilingual preferred.
- Good understanding of co‑occurring disorders and treatment, including medication‑assisted treatment, withdrawal symptoms, psychiatric diagnoses, and associated therapies.
- Understanding of both emergent and non‑emergent medical conditions in co‑occurring patients.
- Basic knowledge of trauma‑informed care and positive bedside manner.
- Basic computer skills such as email, electronic health‑record documentation, electronic prescribing, and lab interface.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification.
- Collaborate with Medical Director and admissions coordinator to determine admission appropriateness based on assessment and ASAM criteria.
- Complete needs assessments with all patients during admission, throughout treatment, and the EHR to document findings and establish plans of care (RN only).
- Perform physical exams upon admission and coordinate psychiatric exams within 24 hours (RN only).
- Implement prescriber orders, administer medications, and update MARs.
- Coordinate prescription refills, labs, and medication refills.
- Assist clinicians in transferring patients’ medical and psychiatric needs upon discharge.
- Order and review labs, assess medication efficacy and side effects, and provide medication education.
- Coordinate with prescribers and make PCP referrals as needed.
- Coordinate with PAP office to ensure new clients are signed up.
- Draw blood and perform medication injections.
- Assist with milieu management and develop therapeutic alliance with clients.
- Order, stock, reconcile medication cabinets and order OTC medications and supplies.
- Ensure compliance with Health Department, OBH, Signal, and OSHA regulations.
- Complete Medication Occurrence Reports on all medication errors.
- Perform routine medical procedures (BP, pulse oximetry, temperature, breathalyzer, urine drug and pregnancy testing, glucose testing, etc.).
- Collaborate with local public health departments for harm‑reduction initiatives.
- Collaborate with Jefferson Center nursing team and other center teams.
- Identify risk factors for suicide, homicide, and grave disability; complete involuntary mental health holds per protocol.
- Support clients with safety, stability, and de‑escalation of potentially dangerous situations.
- Innovate and problem‑solve collaboratively within your area of expertise.
- Provide EHR documented history, physical, and mental assessments.
- Deliver individual patient and group education regarding basic medical information.
- Assist milieu staff in evaluating patient medical needs.
- Emergency procedures: CPR, First Aid, Narcan, Epi Pen, AED use.
- Assess emergent or urgent acute patient needs including life‑threatening events, suicidal/homicidal events, psychiatric episodes, and withdrawal syndrome.
- Coordinate psychiatric examinations and primary care appointments and follow‑ups.
- Communicate medication side effects or problems with prescribing provider.
- All aspects of patient care with the treatment team.
- Implement and adhere to all medication protocols; monitor medication quantities and refills; reconcile OTC medications; maintain MAR updates.
