Position OverviewAurora Mental Health & Recovery (AMHR) seeks a full-time Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to join the Psychiatric Access Team (PAC). The role provides telehealth and in-person care, medication evaluations, ongoing support, and opportunities for teaching, mentorship, and crisis stabilization.
Essential Functions- Provide direct psychiatric services through comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, treatment planning, and patient treatment.
- Supervise clinicians in assigned services as necessary.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary staff to evaluate and triage patients according to acuity.
- Share 24‑hour on‑call responsibilities with other psychiatrists for residential, outpatient, and emergency care.
- Maintain telephone availability for face‑to‑face evaluation of emergency patients.
- Perform utilization review of patients in continuing care to ensure appropriate services.
- Attend team and other meetings, as required.
- Provide consultation on patient care and difficult cases.
- Adhere to organizational quality, compliance, standards, and policies.
- Complete required education and training in a timely manner.
- Document patient care accurately and completely; provide information to credentialing, payroll, etc. on time.
- Coordinate care for assigned clients with other team members.
- Master's degree in Nursing with Prescriptive Authority.
- Minimum 2 years experience as a Nurse Practitioner in Psychiatry.
- Active Colorado Nurse Practitioner license in good standing.
- Certified by the Colorado State Board of Nursing as an advanced practitioner.
- Valid and current DEA registration.
- Current pharmacology knowledge.
- Ability to administer medications and injections.
- Knowledge of diagnoses and theoretical issues related to clinical treatment.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic computer skills and ability to learn and use an electronic health record.
- Treatment philosophy consistent with managed‑care principles.
