The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient‑centered care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. In collaboration with medical providers and other members of the care team, the RN provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.”
The RN serves as an advocate for patients/families/caregivers and models a commitment to the organization’s vision, mission and values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes.
- Assess patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management, including reassessments after appropriate intervention.
- Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s).
- Document the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
- Respond promptly to patient requests and strive to anticipate patient needs and resolve them proactively.
- Teach patients/families/caregivers about patient medical condition, status, treatment plan, medications, possible side effects, and follow‑up measures; translate complex medical terminology for complete understanding.
- Teach patients/families/caregivers about non‑medicinal follow‑up measures, such as healthy diet and exercise, disease prevention, and lifestyle changes; prepare patients and families/caregivers for future self‑management.
- Rotate to areas other than the assigned service area(s) and perform only those duties for which competency has been demonstrated.
- Perform delegated duties consistent with the scope of practice and function within the overall care delivery plan at the Freestanding Emergency Department.
- Current licensure in the State of Colorado as a Registered Nurse, or current active multistate Registered Nurse license.
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PAL certification.
- Certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Current NRP certification through the AAP (American Academy of Pediatrics);
Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) and Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) required within 6 months of hire date. - Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing; BSN preferred.
- Two or more years of Emergency Room/Critical Care Registered Nurse experience.
