This position supports the mission of Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Medical Center of optimizing the quality of life of all those served by expanding beyond the traditional focus on medical needs to the needs of the whole person. The Obstetric RN oversees and directs the care of pregnant women and their families in ante‑partum, intrapartum, and postpartum periods, including low‑risk labor and deliveries, surgical patients (cesarean sections, IUFTs, cerclages, and BBTL), and high‑risk ante‑partum and surgical patients such as placenta accreta spectrum patients.
We also care for those who have suffered the loss of a fetus or baby as well as postpartum patients requiring a higher level of care. The unit works closely with our Level IV NICU and receives transports from other hospitals within Colorado and surrounding states. Dedicated 24‑hour OB and anesthesia coverage as well as 24‑hour PNNP (Perinatal Nurse Practitioner) support are available.
Care of assistive personnel is overseen, maintaining final accountability for the care given to assigned patients.
- Licensure/Certification/Registration:
Current licensure in the State of Colorado as a Registered Nurse, or current active multistate Registered Nurse license; BLS Healthcare Provider; NRP within 3 months of hire*; ACLS within 6 months of hire*;
Fetal Monitoring Course within 1 year*. - Colleagues participating in a transition to practice program must have all required certifications at the completion of their program and transition to independent practice.
- Education:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. BSN preferred. - Experience:
One‑year experience in acute care preferred, women’s, critical care or prior L&D experience preferred. - Special

Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and other health care team members. Ability to manage a team and work with others within a team to ensure quality patient care. Strong critical thinking skills.
