Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) Job Description
Bio Life Plasma Services, a subsidiary of Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Ltd., is looking for a Medical Support Specialist to support plasma center operations under the guidance of the Center Manager or Assistant Manager and the Center Physician. Key duties include determining donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, reviewing laboratory test results, and notifying donors of unsuitable results. You will also handle medical emergencies, support vaccination programs, manage employee incidents, and may act as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized.
Responsibilities- Determine donor eligibility, including proper management of informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self‑exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
- Evaluate donor reactions as outlined in SOPs and follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies, including the development of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities.
- Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or guidance concerning medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
- Support the Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
- Manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER, following EHS guidance.
- Act as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations associated with pandemic threats within the local community.
- High school diploma or equivalent, or graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
- Currently licensed or certified as LPN or LVN in the state where responsibilities will be assigned.
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification.
- Fulfillment of state requirements for basic IV therapy.
- Successful completion of the FDA‑approved training requirements for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
