Shift: Monday-Friday, Weekend, Holidays

As a part of Uptown Community Health Center, Seton Women's Center sees patients of all backgrounds for Obstetrics and Gynecological care.

Job Summary

Providing comprehensive women's reproductive healthcare, specializing in prenatal care, covering the labor and delivery triage unit, assisting with labor and delivery, offering postpartum care, conducting gynecological exams, and educating patients on family planning options, all while collaborating closely with other healthcare professionals like obstetrician/gynecologist. Essentially focusing on low-risk pregnancies and benign gynecologic care.

Duties
  • Prenatal Care: Performing regular checkups during pregnancy, monitoring fetal development, addressing concerns, providing nutritional counseling, and ordering necessary diagnostic tests.
  • Labor and Delivery Support: Actively assisting women during labor, monitoring fetal heart rate, performing vaginal exams, providing emotional support, and managing spontaneous vaginal deliveries. Providing patient assessments and offering management of routine obstetrical triage concerns.
  • Postpartum Care: Conducting postpartum checkups, monitoring healing process, providing breastfeeding support, and addressing any physical or emotional concerns.
  • Gynecological Care: Performing pelvic exams, providing contraception counseling, managing menstrual irregularities, and addressing other gynecological concerns.
  • Patient

    Education:

    Educating patients on pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum care, infant feeding, and family planning options.
  • Collaboration with other healthcare providers: Consulting with obstetrician/gynecologists and other members of the healthcare team when necessary to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Education: Working with medical students and obstetrics and gynecology and family medicine residents as an educator in clinic, triage and on labor and delivery.
Functions

Function independently to provide high quality patient care in a way that is collaborative and patient centric. Care may occur in a variety of settings and by different modalities, including direct interaction with patients in the hospital and/or clinic, but also via telephone, video, or secure e mail when appropriate. Care will include where appropriate gathering of history from the patient and others, physical exam, review of prior records, and review of ancillary data, using sound judgement, critical problem-solving skills, and up to date medical information.

Develops and monitors appropriate treatment plans, communicates effectively with the patient, family when appropriate, and care. Provides efficient and compassionate care for both the patient and their family utilizing multi-disciplinary approach through communication, continuity, coordination and provides relevant education and counseling to patients and families to support care plan, treatment, and discharge. Collaborates with other healthcare team members, leadership, and clinical staff to provide safe patient care.

Communicates pertinent findings and information to physician and team. Assists collaborating physicians with management of patients in the hospital consistent with policies, regulations, and approved Scope of Practice. Other duties as assigned.

Licensure/Certification /Registry
  • Current Registered Nurse license in Colorado.
  • BLS certification is.
  • Valid DEA in applicable state.
  • Full Colorado Prescriptive Authority.
  • Master's degree in Nurse Midwifery from an accredited program.
  • Certification from the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB).
Qualifications/Experience Required
  • Two years experience as a Certified Nurse Midwife.
  • Previous work experience in specialty area is preferred.
Preferred
  • Four years experience as a Certified Nurse Midwife.
  • Experience with Epic application and health record.
  • Experience and understanding of Microsoft Office.
  • Experience working with and sensitivity toward special populations, including those with limited income, limited education, and non-English speaking individuals.
  • Bilingual English / Spanish, complete comprehension, literacy and fluency in both languages.
  • Experience as a medical educator working with Residents in training and other learners.
