Annual Salary $143,618 - $154,894
Advent Health Rocky Mountain region is seeking an APRN/PA to support the clinical operation of the Transplant Institute at Porter with a primary focus on clinical services in the inpatient and operating room settings. Delivery of patient care is conducted in collaboration with the transplant surgeons and physicians including, but not limited to, physical exams, diagnosis and treatment, ordering and interpreting tests, counseling on preventative health, writing prescriptions and assisting in surgery.
Under administrative guidance and physician supervision, the APRN/PA will provide comprehensive acute care services and extended care services in the areas of medicine and/or surgery for individuals and their families.

Job Description:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provides direct inpatient and perioperative transplant care in collaboration with transplant surgeons, physicians, and the multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities include:

  • Completes inpatient assessments, consults, histories and physicals, daily progress notes, and focused evaluations for transplant recipients, living donors, and surgical patients.
  • Manages acute inpatient and post-operative transplant needs, including immunosuppression, complications, organ function, labs, imaging, medications, blood products, and other therapies.
  • Coordinates inpatient care from admission through discharge, including ICU, step-down, OR procedural areas, discharge planning, education, and outpatient follow-up.
  • Participates in daily rounds, interdisciplinary rounds, surgical handoffs, care planning, and escalation of changes in patient status.
  • Assists transplant surgeons in the operating room and supports perioperative planning, including patient readiness, documentation, consent verification, laboratory review, and coordination with OR, anesthesia, ICU, blood bank, and ancillary teams.
  • Provides first-call or shared-call coverage for inpatient transplant and surgical needs as determined by program requirements 1- 2 weekends per month.
  • Supports inpatient transplant education, protocol development, competency support, and quality improvement focused on surgical coordination, patient safety, clinical outcomes, and continuity of care.
  • Completed pre-operative work up and post-surgery visits in clinic setting
  • Attends transplant quality, morbidity & mortality, and other departmental meetings
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Strong verbal and written communication, organizational, problem-solving, and customer service skills
  • Sound clinical judgment, decision-making, and problem-solving skills; effective teaching skills
  • Ability to be accountable and committed to quality and safety
  • Effective time-management skills in a high-stress environment
  • Ability to maintain effective relationships while remaining flexible to work with patients, families, and all members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team
  • Ability to adapt to changes as necessary
  • Ability to work well without supervision
  • Initiative to keep abreast of new information, products, and developments in assigned specialty; leadership qualities essential to operate effectively within the institution and advance the practice of transplantation
  • Computer skills and ability to work effectively across multiple electronic medical records (EMRs)
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

REQUIRED:
  • A minimum of two years of experience in a large hospital or clinical setting
  • If Nurse Practitioner - must have successfully completed undergraduate and Master's level nursing programs, passed state boards, and achieved ARNP status.
  • If Physician Assistant - must hold a baccalaureate degree, or a minimum of two years of college credits, and have graduated from a physician assistant program approved by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA), the successor program to CAAHEP.
LICENSURE, CERTIFCATION OR REGISTRATION

REQUIRED:
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification.
  • Current, valid State of Colorado license.
