Position: TEMPORARY Seasonal Employee Steamboat Lake & Pearl Lake State SEASONAL HOUSING AVAILABLE NO PETS

Department Information

Colorado Department of Natural Resources – Temporary Positions (9 months or less) paying $18.50 per hour.

Free seasonal communal/dorm suite-style housing available for employees only; pets not allowed.

Employment starts Mid‑May 2026 through 09/30/2026. Apply early; the announcement remains open until filled. Only applications without attachments are accepted.

Mission

Job Location s and Positions

Steamboat Lake and Pearl Lake State Parks, Northern Colorado.

  • Aquatic Nuisance Species (ANS) Inspector – Inspect boats and personal watercraft for invasive species; provide visitor education and maintain inspection facilities.
  • Visitor Services Technician / Gate Attendant – Greet visitors at visitor centers or park entrances; distribute information and promote state park programs.
  • Park Maintenance Technician – Maintain cleanliness and functionality of public facilities, including restrooms, campsites, picnic areas, and trails; assist with minor repairs and equipment operation.
Key Responsibilities
  • Staff inspection stations and conduct physical inspections of boats and watercraft.
  • Document inspections, distribute educational materials, and respond to visitor inquiries.
  • Perform light cleaning and maintenance of inspection areas and park facilities.
  • Assist visitors with maps, brochures, and general information in a friendly, professional manner.
  • Operate park vehicles and equipment safely; perform routine maintenance as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Background screening; felony or serious misdemeanor convictions may disqualify.
  • Strong customer service, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks (lifting 50 lbs., climbing, kneeling, reaching). Specific to the ANS Inspector and Maintenance Technician roles.
  • Willingness to work nights, weekends, holidays, and varying shifts; outdoor work in all weather.
  • Data entry proficiency on tablets/computers.
  • Must attend and successfully complete required boat inspector training.
  • Must wear mandatory personal protective equipment and work in appropriate uniform.
Employment & Policies

All employees must maintain a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record. Those who serve in the positions of driver or supervisor must comply with the New Fleet Vehicle Policy and State fleet vehicle standards.

Employees who use State fleet vehicles must follow the fleet vehicle management requirements, including reporting standards and safe driving practices.
