Aquatic Nuisance Species (ANS) Inspector- Staff the park ANS inspection station.
- Conduct physical boat inspections and boater interviews. Requires climbing into and under boats.
- Provide information and assistance to the boating public (distribute brochures, promote ANS education, educate about State Park regulations, etc.).
- Cleans and performs light maintenance duties of interior and exterior of ANS inspection areas, including facilities and grounds.
- Accurately counts and records all boat inspections, either written or by phone application software.
- Training in boat inspection methods will be provided.
- May document and report visitor complaints.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Serves in the visitor center at Steamboat Lake or at one of the gate entrances, greeting visitors.
- May be assigned to work in the field on specialized duties.
- Provides information and assistance to visitors (distribute maps/brochures, orient visitors to park facilities and amenities, promote education programs, educate on State Park regulations, etc.).
- Provides information to the boating and non‑boating public.
- Operates and performs routine maintenance on state‑owned vehicles and equipment.
- Ensures quality customer service and facility maintenance, repair and cleanliness.
- Provides information and assistance to visitors.
- Assists with carpentry, plumbing, masonry, electrical work, and transporting materials and supplies.
- Uses equipment such as pressure washers, hand tools, small power tools, shop vacs, vacuums, park vehicles, and other equipment on a daily basis.
- Wears personal protective equipment as necessary.
- Assists with other maintenance duties including maintenance of equipment, facilities, and grounds.
- Basic knowledge of cleaning, landscaping, construction, hand tools, small engines, or related concepts preferred.
- Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
- A background screening may be required.
- Applicants may be disqualified based on some felony or serious misdemeanor convictions.
- Strong customer service and communication skills required.
- Must be enthusiastic, organized, and self‑motivated.
- Must be able to perform, or with reasonable accommodation, the physical requirements listed in the job related requirements section.
- Able and willing to do data entry on tablets and computers.
- Must be willing to work nights, weekends, holidays, and varied shifts.
- Willing to work outside and in inclement weather.
- Upon hire attend and successfully complete required boat inspector training.
- Supply and work in appropriate uniform as directed by policy. Some uniform items will be provided; employees will be required to purchase limited items at their own expense.
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
- ANS Inspector will perform physical activities including, but not limited to, lifting 50 lbs. or more, balancing, walking, standing, stooping, climbing onto/into trailered boats, crawling, crouching, kneeling, reaching, and bending in different positions to properly inspect and decontaminate boats and handle equipment.
