The Field/Laboratory Technician will provide construction quality assurance/quality control for earthworks testing as well as geosynthetics installation.
Responsibilities- Adhere to all company and client‑specific safety requirements.
- Perform field CQA/QC observation and testing.
- Perform geotechnical laboratory testing, including:
- Soil/Aggregate sampling and processing
- Grain size, Atterberg Limits, specific gravity
- Compaction tests – Proctors
- Hydrometer analysis
- Hydraulic conductivity (permeability)
- Perform concrete testing.
- Onsite interaction with clients, contractors and engineers.
- Oversee CQA/QC field and laboratory team members.
- Provide training to CQA/QC and laboratory team members.
- Schedule and coordinate CQA/QC activity for compliance with project technical specifications.
- Issue and track issuance of surveillance and non‑conformity reports.
- 0–15 years of experience in field construction materials testing CQA/QC, specifically soils testing, liner CQA, and laboratory testing.
- Basic to intermediate math and writing skills.
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of Excel and Word.
- Ability to work weekends, as required.
- Ability to travel and work outside the town for extended periods, as required.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 35 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally move more than 100 pounds, with assistance.
- Ability to spend a majority of time walking and doing inspections for multiple days.
Work will be performed in a field setting and a geotechnical soils laboratory and may be exposed to varying ambient conditions. Adherence to safety standards including those of the firm, MSHA, and OSHA is mandatory. Site‑specific and MSHA New Miner or annual refresher training will be made available.
CompensationIn accordance with Colorado state law, the annual compensation range is $24.00 to $40.00 an hour depending on experience level. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as experience, education, and skill level.
