Position Summary

The Lead Advanced NDT Technician is responsible for supporting and expanding the advanced service line within the Denver office while remaining actively involved in field operations. The role includes performing and overseeing advanced Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) inspections on structures, pipelines, components, and materials using multiple inspection techniques. The position combines technical expertise, leadership, and hands‑on field execution to drive operational excellence and service growth.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and expansion of the advanced service line for the Denver office.
  • Perform non‑destructive testing (NDT) inspections in accordance with applicable codes, standards, specifications, procedures, and equipment requirements.
  • Conduct inspections using techniques including:
    • Radiographic Testing (X‑ray)
    • Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
    • Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT)
    • Time of Flight Diffraction (TOFD)
    • Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI)
    • Laser Profilometry
    • Visual Inspection (VT)
  • Select, prepare, calibrate, and operate NDT equipment.
  • Identify material and component defects using appropriate inspection methods.
  • Complete inspection documentation and work orders accurately and within required timelines.
  • Drive company vehicles while maintaining a safe driving record.
  • Provide instruction and guidance to assigned assistants.
  • Ensure the safety of the inspection team during all field activities.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Must be insurable through PROtect, LLC insurance carrier.
  • Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI) certification.
  • Minimum of 80 hours from a recognized Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT) training course.
  • Minimum of 320 documented On‑the‑Job Training (OJT) hours in PAUT.
  • Eddy Current Level II certification is preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge, skills, or experience in Non‑Destructive Testing.
  • Experience with Shear Wave Ultrasonic Testing and Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing is required.
  • Pipeline Integrity experience is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Minimum of 3–5+ years of leadership experience in advanced NDT services.
Requirements
  • Strong expertise across multiple NDT inspection methods with a commitment to continuous learning.
  • Intermediate mechanical knowledge.
  • Strong commitment to safety regulations, procedures, and leadership in maintaining safe work practices.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including shifts up to 16 hours, emergency call-outs, and extended travel assignments.
  • Willingness to travel more than 75% of the time.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds frequently and up to 150 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, on uneven terrain, and in extreme weather conditions.
  • Ability to work safely around moving machinery, electrical equipment, and chemical exposures.
  • Strong teamwork, leadership, and communication skills.
