Join our client , a well‑established manufacturer of commercial specialty equipment, as a Compliance & Lab Manager in Denver, Colorado. This direct‑hire opportunity is ideal for an experienced engineering or laboratory professional with a background in HVAC, refrigeration, product testing, and regulatory compliance. The Compliance & Lab Manager will lead laboratory testing activities, support product certifications, and ensure products meet applicable safety, sanitation, energy-efficiency, and performance standards.

Compliance & Lab Manager Role
  • Manage daily operations and testing activities within the engineering laboratory.
  • Oversee product-performance, safety, sanitation, and compliance testing.
  • Establish testing criteria and pass/fail limits in partnership with Design Engineering.
  • Ensure laboratory testing follows documented procedures, regulatory requirements, and safety protocols.
  • Support product certifications and ongoing compliance with UL, NSF, ETL, AHRI, ASHRAE, Department of Energy, and OSHA requirements.
  • Serve as a point of contact for external testing agencies, auditors, and certification organizations.
  • Coordinate testing schedules to support new product development, sustaining engineering, certification, and product-improvement initiatives.
  • Review test data and determine whether products meet performance and compliance requirements.
  • Investigate product or testing failures using structured root cause analysis.
  • Work with engineering and manufacturing teams to develop practical corrective actions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve product reliability, safety, sanitation, performance, and testing efficiency.
  • Oversee laboratory equipment calibration, maintenance, validation, and documentation.
  • Maintain accurate testing records, technical documentation, certification files, and compliance records.
  • Monitor applicable regulatory changes and communicate potential product or process impacts.
  • Support audit readiness and assist with internal and external inspections.
  • Provide leadership, training, and technical direction to laboratory personnel.
  • Partner with Engineering, Quality, Product Development, and Manufacturing to embed compliance requirements into product design and production.
  • Communicate testing results, risks, recommendations, and corrective actions to leadership.
Background Profile
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
  • At least five years of experience working in a laboratory, product-testing, compliance, or engineering environment.
  • Previous experience managing or leading laboratory testing activities.
  • Experience working within a manufacturing environment.
  • HVAC, refrigeration, commercial appliance, food service equipment, or related product experience.
  • Familiarity with product safety and sanitation testing.
  • Working knowledge of one or more of the following: UL NSF ETL AHRI ASHRAE Department of Energy requirements OSHA
  • Experience evaluating test failures and completing root cause analysis.
  • Ability to recommend practical corrective actions when a product does not meet performance or compliance requirements.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret technical documentation, schematics, specifications, and two-dimensional drawings.
  • Familiarity with three-dimensional CAD software;
    Solid Works experience is preferred.
  • Strong documentation, organization, project-management, and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and external certification organizations.
