Essential Functions
- Maintain food safety and quality systems, programs, and documentation.
- Assist with QA department tasks including mix making, CIP, equipment cleaning, product quality testing/sampling, completion of the master sanitation schedule tasks, etc.
- Actively participate in facility discussions providing food safety and quality call outs.
- Develop and maintain a qualified QA team through organizational development, personnel assessment, training, direction, motivation, and scheduling.
- Serve as the SQF Practitioner and PCQI for the plant location.
- Manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, production‑focused environment.
- Ensure that managers, supervisors, and process owners maintain their responsibilities in the food safety and quality management system at the facility.
- Manage the performance of microbiological and chemistry related testing as it relates to product requirements.
- Manage the food safety plan and supporting programs.
- Coordinate all documentation to ensure compliance with all federal, state, local, and Ziegenfelder directives, policies, and procedures.
- Manage internal lab functions including microbial samples, document completion & control, compare internal laboratory results with outside laboratory results, and daily product release/hold management.
- Provide leadership and training guidance in Quality Assurance and Food Safety and partner with operations managers and supervisors to implement change and quality improvement.
- Verify finished product meets quality standards.
- Oversee the development, implementation, review, and maintenance of the SQF System, including food safety fundamentals and the food safety plan.
- Work hands‑on with the QA team to meet delivery timetables.
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred; preference given to Food Science, Food Technology Degree, or other related fields.
- 5+ years of experience and training with Food Safety, HACCP, SQF, Sanitation (SSOP & GMP), and/or other food safety systems.
- Experience in Quality Assurance process improvement skills required.
- HACCP and PCQI certification required; SQF certification preferred (but not required).
- 3+ years of experience in a supervisory role.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office products.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to travel up to 5%.
Compensation: $89,387 – $107,979
