Position: Research Assistant – Angleson Lab (Work-Study)

University of Denver - DU - Biological Sciences Department

  • Prepare/clean standard equipment, and samples/solutions for laboratory experiments, in accordance with detailed procedures and instructions.
  • May do routine testing, operate basic laboratory equipment, practice safety, environmental, and/or infection control methods.
  • Assist graduate students, faculty and staff with research and data collection
  • Perform related work as required or assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Basic knowledge of general biology and chemistry.
  • Strong critical thinking skills.
  • Can work as a team and are able to follow directions.
Required Qualifications
  • Current DU undergraduate student enrolled for the academic year.
  • This position is a work-study job, which requires eligibility through the Financial Aid Office
Preferred Qualifications
  • Standard lab environment.
  • Unexpected interruptions occur often, and stress level is moderate to high.
  • Noise level is quiet to moderate.
Physical Activities
  • Cleaning & moving supplies.
  • Occasionally required to move about the office/campus with the capability of transporting objects up to 20 lbs.
Compensation and Benefits
  • $/hr open to work-study funded student employees.
  • In compliance with Colorado’s Healthy Families and Workplaces Act (HFWA), non-benefited employees accrue one hour of paid leave for every 30 hours worked up to a maximum of 48 hours per year.
