About the RoleThis position greets our customers and accepts their donations in an efficient and courteous manner. This position works outside in all weather conditions. Excellent customer service skills are a must!
Part‑time positions are available. Availability to work evenings and weekends is a must. This position could work at our Leetsdale Store as well as our Clayton Donation Center.
Donation hours at our stores are Monday through Saturday 8:00 to 20:30 and Sunday 9:00 to 19:30. Donation hours at our donation centers are 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily.

Part‑time employees in our Retail and Sales/Operations Division are eligible for paid holidays, sick leave, jury duty, and bereavement leave. All employees may also make pre‑tax or post‑tax (Roth) contributions to our retirement plan - must be 18 years of age to participate. Goodwill of Colorado is a Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF) eligible employer.
Job SummaryThe Associate I, Donation Services is typically the first point of contact for customers that are dropping off items at retail centers and/or stand-alone donation centers (ADC). The Donation Services Associates will provide excellent and friendly customer service by greeting customers, answering product questions, and helping as needed, which may include lifting or unloading donations from a customer’s vehicle or other area.
Associates are expected to handle goods with care, showing respect for items donated.
- Provides excellent customer service, greeting customers in a timely manner, answering product questions as needed.
- Assists every customer by unloading donations from vehicle or other areas.
- Ensures that donated items are handled with care and sorted into appropriate bins or production areas.
- Inspects all donations within assigned areas and makes decisions on quality to sort appropriately for the sales floor or to be shipped to other locations.
- Ensures a safe, organized, and clean environment is maintained for both customers and fellow employees within the donations entrance and parking lot areas.
- Maintains remote donation centers, sheds, and/or trailer if applicable, following appropriate opening and closing procedures when working at a remote site.
- Ensures supplies are kept well stocked at remote site as necessary.
- Tracks and reports on donation levels daily to ensure trailers do not become overstoked when working in remote donation center locations.
- Communicates timely when donation warehouse and/or trailer(s) are becoming full and a truck is needed.
- Follows all retail center/donation center policies and procedures.
- Assists drivers in loading and unloading donations onto the truck when necessary.
- Follows all safety processes and procedures to help provide a safe working environment for employees and customers.
- Cross trains in other departments or areas; acts as a back‑up for other areas as required.
- May be required to report to the store ADC or stand‑alone center when necessary.
- Job duties may extend beyond the tasks listed and may include additional responsibilities as required.
- Education:
A High School diploma or equivalent is preferred. - Experience:
One (1) year of retail experience is preferred. - Must be able to make decisions by following Goodwill standards and guidelines.
- Must have basic computer skills to be able to log into a computer system to order supplies and to send and receive e‑mail.
- Must be able to work in various weather conditions with varying temperatures.
- Must be able to use safety equipment to assist with lifting heavy objects such as a dolly or pallet jack.
- Can obtain Powered Equipment Operator certification to safely operate equipment. Ability to operate hydraulic baler and forklift. Ability to be forklift certified.
