Work Schedule: Full-time – must be flexible to work retail hours (Monday‑Sunday 9 AM‑9 PM), weekends, and varying 8‑hour shifts.

JOB SUMMARY

The Coordinator I, Asset Protection Officer, will assist with controlling loss and shrink by performing Asset Protection related activities and monitoring policies and programs. Deters, detects, and apprehends individuals committing thefts or other crimes at store level. Provides a safe and secure store environment for customers, employees, and vendors. The position works under the direction and supervision of the Risk Management Manager.

ESSENTIAL

FUNCTIONS
  • Establishes positive partnerships with store personnel to support an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness, emphasizing fast, friendly, and excellent customer service.
  • Monitors the checkout area for consumer fraud, associate dishonesty, and compliance with correct cash‑handling and cash register policies and procedures.
  • Provides oversight throughout the store to check shrink control, external loss, and customer service.
  • Apprehends shoplifters following Goodwill policies and state and local laws.
  • Cooperates with and responds to requests made by police departments, courts, and other law‑enforcement agencies, as directed by the Loss Prevention Manager, including maintaining records.
  • Aids in the performance of Asset Protection related inspections.
  • Submits work orders to maintain physical security such as CCTV, anti‑theft equipment, and the intrusion alarm system.
  • Conducts inspections to ensure compliance with all policies related to shrink control, cash handling, and physical security; documents violations and communicates with Store and Risk Management teams.
  • Conducts investigations at the direction of the Risk Director; prepares and maintains proper documentation.
  • Communicates with and trains store employees on all aspects of asset protection and related issues.
  • Reports on all incidents of unsafe store conditions to Store and Risk Management teams.
  • Takes immediate action to report and remedy any imminent safety hazard.
  • Performs all job duties accurately, safely, with honesty and integrity.
  • Represents Goodwill stores positively to customers and the public.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Experience:

  • 1–3 years of Retail Asset Protection experience.
  • Knowledge of Company Asset Protection and interviewing policies and procedures; basic knowledge of law‑enforcement.

Other:

  • Ability to move quickly in case of emergencies.
  • Must have good oral communication skills.
  • Can understand and follow instructions, deal with potentially demanding situations effectively and assertively.
  • Can work collaboratively.
  • Can understand and accept instructions and communicate with co‑workers and the public.
  • Ability to use CCTV equipment.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain property documentation for all interviews and investigations (case building).
  • Can identify situations that may require immediate attention or intervention and react according to Goodwill policies and procedures.
  • Must have mental alertness, basic mathematics skills, weights and measures.
  • Basic computer knowledge, including Microsoft Office.
  • Follows all Goodwill Company policies, including Safety, Asset Protection, Attendance, Grooming Standards, and Dress Codes.
  • May be needed to work evenings, weekends, and holidays; good attendance required.
  • Must be able to drive for company business.*

* Per auto vehicle insurance carrier requirements: applicants/ employees must be at least 21 years of age (not engaged in passenger transportation), 25–70 years of age for all passenger transportation services, 25 years of age for CDL. Applicants will undergo a motor vehicle record and background check; must have a valid Colorado State driver license and be able to operate company vehicles in compliance with all laws.
