JOB SUMMARY
The Associate I, Donation Services is typically the first point of contact for customers that are dropping off items at retail centers and/or stand‑alone donation centers (ADC). The Donation Services Associates will provide excellent and friendly customer service by greeting customers in a timely manner and helping as needed, which may include lifting or unloading donations from a customer’s vehicle or other area.
Associates are expected to handle goods with care, showing respect for items donated.
- Provides excellent customer service, greeting customers in a timely manner and answering product questions as needed.
- Assists every customer by unloading donations from vehicle or other areas.
- Ensures that donated items are handled with care and sorted into appropriate bins or production areas.
- Inspects all donations within assigned areas and makes decisions on quality to sort appropriately for the sales floor or to be shipped to other locations.
- Ensures a safe, organized, and clean environment is maintained for both customers and fellow employees within the donations entrance and parking lot areas.
- Maintains remote donation centers, sheds, and/or trailers if applicable, following appropriate opening and closing procedures when working at a remote site.
- Ensures supplies are kept well stocked at remote sites as necessary.
- Tracks and reports on donation levels daily to ensure trailers do not become over‑stocked when working in remote donation center locations.
- Communicates timely when the donation warehouse and/or trailer(s) are becoming full and a truck is needed.
- Follows all retail center/donation center policies and procedures.
- Assists drivers in loading and unloading donations onto the truck when necessary.
- Follows all safety processes and procedures to help provide a safe working environment for employees and customers.
- Cross‑trains in other departments or areas and acts as a back‑up for other areas as required.
- May be required to report to the store ADC or stand‑alone center when necessary.
- Job duties may extend beyond the tasks listed and may include additional responsibilities as required.

Education- A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- One (1) year of retail experience is preferred.
- Must be able to make decisions by following Goodwill standards and guidelines.
- Must have basic computer skills to log into a computer system to order supplies and to send and receive email.
- Must be able to work in various weather conditions with varying temperatures.
- Must be able to use safety equipment to assist with lifting heavy objects such as a dolly or pallet jack.
- Ability to read, comprehend, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with customers, managers, supervisors, staff, and peers.
- Must be able to work a varied schedule to include weekends, evenings, and holidays with occasional overtime as necessary.
