Why This Role MattersAs a Senior Benefits Consultant, you'll serve as a trusted advisor to clients, helping them navigate complex employee benefits decisions while developing long-term strategies that support their business goals and workforce needs. This is an opportunity to lead meaningful client relationships, drive successful renewals, and influence benefit programs that impact employees' health, financial well-being, and overall experience. In this role, you'll partner closely with Benefit Analysts, Benefit Advocates, carriers, vendor partners, and internal stakeholders to deliver customized solutions across a diverse client portfolio.
Your expertise will help strengthen client retention, uncover growth opportunities, and elevate the overall client experience through strategic guidance and proactive service.
- Advise clients on employee benefits strategies that align with business objectives, workforce needs, and long-term goals.
- Lead renewal planning and execution, including benchmarking, claims analysis, carrier negotiations, and strategic recommendations.
- Present comprehensive renewal strategies that clearly communicate plan options, financial impacts, and recommended solutions.
- Collaborate with account team members to drive service excellence, manage renewal timelines, and deliver proactive client support.
- Educate clients on compliance requirements, regulatory developments, and industry best practices to help them make informed decisions.
- Identify opportunities for cost containment, plan enhancements, and additional solutions that strengthen client outcomes and retention.
- A relationship-builder who earns trust through responsiveness, expertise, and a consultative approach.
- Comfortable presenting complex benefits information to leadership teams, employees, and key stakeholders.
- Strategic in your thinking and able to evaluate data, trends, and business objectives to develop meaningful recommendations.
- Highly organized and capable of managing multiple client priorities, deadlines, and renewal cycles simultaneously.
- Proactive in identifying opportunities, solving problems, and driving initiatives forward.
- Collaborative and team-oriented, with a willingness to share knowledge and contribute to a high-performing environment.
- Committed to delivering exceptional service and creating positive client experiences.
- 4+ years of experience in employee benefits consulting, account management, sales, or a related client-facing role within the employee benefits insurance industry.
- Active Colorado Life & Health insurance license.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Advanced knowledge of employee benefits programs, including self-funded plans, level-funded plans, medical captives, pharmacy solutions, ancillary benefits, and compliance requirements.
- Experience presenting medical, prescription drug, and ancillary benefit analyses, including plan design, pricing strategies, and contract details.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities with the capability to simplify complex benefits concepts.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, benefit administration platforms, CRM systems, and client management tools.
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field.
- Experience mentoring, coaching, or developing team members in an employee benefits agency environment.
- Registered Employee Benefits Consultant (REBC) certification or another employee benefits designation.
- Demonstrated success identifying growth opportunities, cross-selling solutions, and expanding client relationships.
