GHG Project Specialist (Hybrid) – Denver, CO

As a key member of the team, you will support GHG inventory and assurance work for companies including oil and gas operators, emissions reporting and support, and specific client support on individual carbon reduction and quantification projects. Successful candidates will pair technical savvy related to data management and basic knowledge of life cycle accounting with a willingness to support and learn carbon auditing and accounting, familiarity with emissions regulations and voluntary programs, and the ability to think creatively and in a focused way to support multiple projects at once successfully.

If you have additional experience in air permitting or compliance work, you will also have the opportunity to cross‑train with other Onterris teams and add additional value when those teams need support.

The annual salary range for this role is $65,000 to $75,000, commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location.

Key Responsibilities
  • ISO 14064‑3 aligned assurance of greenhouse gas statements and inventories.
  • Natural gas certification efforts, including MIQ and OGMP
    2.0 standards.
  • Corporate ESG strategy and reporting.
  • Application of various GHG and methane‑specific protocols and certifications to various industries.
  • Scenario analysis and development of specific sustainability and GHG strategies over defined planning horizons.
  • Identification of sustainability opportunities and gaps.
  • Regulatory applicability analyses (state, local, and federal regulations).
Additional Responsibilities
  • Facilitating stakeholder groups to gather input related to sustainability strategies and outcomes.
  • Developing and integrating tools and software to meet client expectations.
  • Integrating with partner software platforms to support client information and data transfer.
  • Supporting compliance and air team work.
  • Incentives and grant research.
  • Working with colleagues to achieve specific project outcomes.
Key Skills
  • Analytical ability and problem‑solving skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication.
  • High level of professionalism and ethics.
  • Fundamental math and science competencies (e.g., unit conversions, use of formulas, data evaluation).
  • Limited subject‑matter expertise in one or more sustainability topics.
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite (Teams, Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, PowerBI, Visio) and time/expense tracking software.
  • Understanding of software and tools applicable to expertise (e.g., LCA tools, ArcGIS, relevant GHG protocols).
Requirements
  • B.S. or higher in Environmental Science, Public Policy, Planning, Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 3 months to 1 year of experience in sustainability consulting, oil and gas operations, sustainability planning, or a related field.
  • Effective personal time‑management skills for handling multiple projects.
