Job Overview
This is a temporary position (9 months or less) paying $18.50 per hour. Employment starts 05/03/2026 through 10/31/2026.
ResponsibilitiesSupport the State Invasive Species Program through public outreach to non-motorized water recreation groups. Responsibilities include trailering a mobile self-serve cleaning system throughout the Arkansas Valley and southeast Colorado to educate outfitters, anglers, hunters, and watercraft users about aquatic invasive species and proper cleaning, draining, and drying of equipment. Additional duties include providing surveys, attending user group events and expositions, and educating recreational outfitters.
The position reports to the Program Specialist for assignment and will also perform support tasks for the Program Manager and Invasive Species Specialists such as watercraft inspection and decontamination, quality control assessment, inventory management, reviewing and editing technical reports, distribution of supplies to field locations, and data entry.
Travel requirements:
May require overnight travel and distance driving. Early morning, evening, and weekend work will be required.
- Good driving record and ability to travel extensively with overnight stays is mandatory.
- Ability to drive long hours and remain alert.
- Ability to trailer decontamination units on highways and steep mountain roads.
- Must be willing to be flexible with the weekday and weekend work schedule, as field work may be dictated by weather.
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access is required.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) are required.
- Excellent organization skills and attention to detail.
- Preferred education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences or higher education.
