Primary ResponsibilitiesHDR seeks an experienced environmental scientist to lead our growing Colorado Environmental Sciences Program. The successful candidate for this position will have applied experience in delivery of biological and ecological science services, particularly with task management, monitoring progress and workflow, quality control, establishing schedules and preparation of related documentation. The Biological and Ecological Sciences Lead will manage and support a team of environmental scientists and manage competing workflows and project requirements to ensure quality delivery of services to internal and external clients.
Additionally, the ideal candidate will have experience managing individuals or a team to meet business metrics, support staff growth and development, and coordinate staff planning and hiring. This position will be expected to also meet their own billable project goals through leading environmental sciences tasks and projects, assign tasks and work collaboratively with resource specialists and engineering teams to develop and screen project alternatives and prepare technical reports.
MS preferred in biology, wildlife biology, ecology, environmental science or related fields. Project management experience on smaller projects preferred, task management experience required Experience focused on biological and ecological sciences in the transportation, energy, or water markets Experience with projects in Colorado and/or regionally is preferred Strong writing skills Demonstrated ability to participate collaboratively on project teams, and diverse technical teams Maintain effective relationships with external and internal stakeholders GIS and/or graphics skills preferred but not required Preference given to local candidates Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience A minimum of 10 years experience Professional registration, license or certification may be required based on role Strong communication and listening skills Ability to handle multiple assignments Good leadership and organizational skills An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
