The Forensic Scientist III (Biological Sciences) is a technical expert within the Colorado Bureau of Investigation's Forensic Services who preserves, analyzes, and interprets physical evidence from criminal cases for federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies. The position operates out of one of four laboratories (Denver, Pueblo, Grand Junction, or Greeley) and involves hands‑on casework, quality assurance, expert testimony, and mentoring of junior forensic scientists while maintaining ISO/IEC 17025 compliance.
Keyqualifications:
- Technical expertise in biological sciences forensic disciplines and sub-disciplines
- Ability to perform complex evidence analysis, chain of custody management, and laboratory safety protocols
- Proficiency with Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and scientific instrumentation
- Strong report writing, courtroom testimony, and expert communication skills
- Capability to train, mentor, and advise Forensic Scientist I/II level personnel
