Overnight Security Officer

Job Summary

The Overnight Security Officer is responsible for the safety and security of all guests, employees, and visitors at the hotel. This role protects hotel assets, enforces security policies, and ensures compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations. The officer also performs fire prevention, safety checks, investigations, and resolves security‑related complaints.

• Deliver Sonesta Service in all guest and client interactions.
• Apply Sonesta G.U.E.S.T. standards and encourage customer service among associates.
• Perform normal security functions such as fire prevention and safety checks.
• Investigate thefts, accidents, and other incidents on the property.
• Prevent loss of company and guest property due to theft, burglary, or other criminal activity.
• Ensure a safe and tranquil environment for guests and employees.
• Assist guests and colleagues with security and safety inquiries.
• Resolve guest and employee complaints regarding safety and security matters.
• Conduct floor patrols during duty, checking doors, windows, and securing premises during non‑operating hours.
• Monitor personnel activities to detect and counter theft and other criminal activities.
• Complete incident forms and reports for any accidents or issues within the hotel.
• Immediately report deficiencies to appropriate departments for prompt repair.
• Perform any other work‑related duties assigned by management.

• Regular and punctual attendance

• Ability to stand, walk continuously, and run as required
• Capability to safely operate a motor vehicle at all hours and in all weather conditions
• Understanding and execution of all safety and emergency procedures (fire, crowd control, inclement weather, bomb threats)
• Knowledge of emergency equipment (fire extinguishers, wheelchairs, respirators)
• Ability to lift and carry up to approximately 50 lbs., and move an immobilized adult in emergencies
• Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb stairs and ladders, and reach
• Ability to push or pull up to 75 lbs.
• Ability to work in extreme temperatures
• Proficiency with communication equipment (telephones, radios, beepers)
• Clear and effective verbal communication with guests and employees
• Courteous, empathetic, and discreet interaction with guests and staff (smile, eye contact, positive presentation)
• Read and write effectively
• Capacity for high‑volume interaction with the public and staff
