U.S. Border Patrol is hiring immediately for full-time, career positions. Salary and benefits include a base salary of GL-9/GS-11, $65,545 - $124,717 per year, locality pay varies by duty location, and up to 25% overtime pay. Newly appointed Border Patrol Agents will be offered up to a $20,000 incentive, with the first $10,000 paid upon successful completion of the Border Patrol Academy, and the remaining $10,000 awarded for accepting a prioritized location.
Duty assignments may include the Southwest Border, and relocation may be required.
Duties and responsibilities include detecting and questioning people suspected of violating immigration and customs laws, preventing and apprehending aliens and smugglers of aliens, patrolling the international boundary and coastal waterways, and performing farm checks, building checks, traffic checks, city patrols, and transportation checks.
Qualifications for the GL-9 grade level include one year of specialized experience performing duties such as performing physical searches, apprehending violators of state, federal, or immigration laws, and proficient use of firearms. For the GS-11 grade level, one year of specialized experience with the authority to enforce laws, make arrests, and investigate crimes is required. Citizenship, residency, and age restrictions apply.
Formal training will be provided at the U.S. Border Patrol Academy in Artesia, New Mexico.
