This position generally works Monday through Friday, with shift times scheduled between 6:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. Weekend shifts may be required based on staffing needs, training requirements, or special events. Schedule flexibility is required to meet the needs of the department. This position is considered essential personnel which requires being on duty to perform emergency services of the agency without delay and/or interruption and rotates shifts.

This position is required to work at the Lakewood and Arvada campuses as needed. You must be willing to accept working at various locations and working varying hours as needed.

Criminal Law Enforcement and Emergency Response

Responds to all calls for service, both criminal and non-criminal. Conducts field interviews of suspicious persons and investigates alleged criminal activity. Collects and preserves evidence, interviews victims, witnesses, and suspects, and arrests or detains individuals as appropriate while providing proper legal advisements. Enforces traffic laws, investigates motor vehicle accidents, and renders aid as needed. Patrols and monitors campus to deter, prevent, and detect criminal activity and identify individuals in need of law enforcement services.

Responds safely and effectively to criminal and non-criminal emergencies.

Documentation, Reporting, and Evidence Management

Prepares comprehensive written and verbal reports documenting all shift activities. Completes reports regarding criminal activity for presentation to the District Attorney for prosecution and prepares documentation for campus administrative actions as directed by department leadership. Properly collects, preserves, logs, and stores evidence in accordance with established procedures. Testifies in court proceedings as required.

Special Events, Security Operations, and Facility Management

Provides crowd and traffic control at public events including July 4th celebrations, political rallies, demonstrations, concerts, sporting events, and graduation ceremonies. Coordinates with appropriate law enforcement agencies regarding dignitary protection and security operations. Conducts law enforcement escorts for campus monetary operations. Assists the public as needed and secures campus facilities by locking and unlocking buildings as required.

Training, Professional Development, and Community Engagement

Participates in in-service and specialized law enforcement training and continuing education. Maintains proficiency in firearms, arrest control, defensive tactics, and all P.O.S.T.
