Controls Systems Technician 3
The role involves performing system commissioning using Johnson Controls configuration and commissioning tools, troubleshooting HVAC mechanical, electrical, and controls problems, responding to warranty calls, and providing high‑level service to resolve building inefficiencies. The technician acts as a trusted advisor, providing solutions and outcomes at the time of service.
Responsibilities- Load system‑level controller software.
- Perform basic commissioning and system diagnostics from system‑level controllers to end devices such as sensors and actuators.
- Complete all required commissioning documentation.
- Keep management, contractors, or customers informed of job progress and issues.
- Calibrate systems using basic electronic test equipment.
- Complete administrative tasks including time sheets, expense reports, and on‑site documentation.
- Document changes and provide information for as‑built documentation.
- Communicate with contractors or customers upon arrival and before leaving the work site.
- Follow all safety standards and attend required safety training.
- Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facility efficiency, including upselling opportunities.
- Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.
- 2‑year degree in electronics, mechanical systems, computer technology, air conditioning or related field; alternatively at least 4 years of industry experience.
- Experience servicing electronic and/or mechanical systems in the HVAC industry.
- Knowledge of HVAC controls systems, facilities management systems, site preparation, peripheral equipment installation and servicing techniques.
- Effective interpersonal skills to represent Johnson Controls to customers and other contacts.
- Ability to explain technical information to technical and non‑technical people.
- Leadership skills to support mechanics working on non‑complex, non‑critical building automation equipment.
- PC experience required and ability to program HVAC related software.
Hourly range: $32.06 – $44.13 per hour, based on education, experience, skills, and market data.
