Position
Commercial Building Engineer I – Class A Office Building
LocationDenver, CO 80202
CompensationDirect-hire position paying between $30-35 per hour plus overtime depending on experience.
DescriptionWe are seeking a motivated and dependable Commercial Building Engineer to join our facilities team. This position is responsible for assisting with the daily maintenance, repair, and operation of commercial building systems to ensure a safe, clean, and efficient environment for tenants and staff. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, basic mechanical aptitude, and a willingness to learn commercial building operations including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general maintenance systems.
Responsibilities- Perform routine building inspections and preventive maintenance tasks
- Respond to tenant maintenance requests and work orders in a timely manner
- Assist with basic repairs involving HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, and mechanical systems
- Replace filters, belts, light bulbs, ceiling tiles, and other building materials as needed
- Monitor building equipment including boilers, pumps, air handlers, and generators
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of mechanical and maintenance areas
- Support outside vendors and contractors during service visits
- Follow company safety procedures
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs and daily reports
- 1-3 years of experience in building operations or facilities maintenance (commercial preferred)
- Basic knowledge of building systems including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing
- Basic knowledge of hand and power tools
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Good communication and customer service abilities - Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work on ladders or in mechanical spaces
- High school diploma or GED required; technical training or trade school certification is desirable
- Willingness to work flexible hours or respond to emergency calls if needed
- EPA, HVAC, or maintenance certifications experience working in commercial buildings, hotels, apartments, or industrial facilities
