About the Role:
Job Title; Apprentice Lineman
Reports to: Foreman
- Driver’s license and MVR requirement:
Valid Driver’s License with a clean MVR. Class ‘A’ CDL is preferred or you must obtain one within six months after you are hired. - Education:
High School Diploma or GED or Equivalent - Qualifications/
Certifications:
Completed a certified Journeyman Lineman Apprenticeship Program - Must be CPR and First Aid certified or possess the ability to obtain certification within 90 days of employment
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
Essential Skills, Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs all duties assigned by supervisor
- Attend quarterly apprenticeship training in person
- Attend monthly safety and apprenticeship Teams calls
- Track your apprenticeship hours timely and accurately
- Can read, understand and follow contract documents/drawings. Ensure all work is completed according to contract documents.
- Responsible for producing quality work
- Understand and comply with Company Policies and Operating Procedures.
- Believes in and complies with Altitude’s “Core Values”.
- Team player that is a good listener, solution driven, problem solver/resourceful, approachable, and has a positive attitude
- Diligent and is detail oriented
- Must remain calm in stressful situations
- Deals with coworkers, customers, engineers, and sub-contractors in a professional manner
- Elevate concerns with safety, or project to supervisor
Essential Safety Requirements
- Adheres to and promotes Altitude’s safety culture.
- Must arrive at your designated work area on time (early) and “Fit for Duty”. Physically, mentally, and emotionally ready to work.
- Must fully participate in Altitude’s JHA process
- Responsible for working safely and ensure good housekeeping in your work area
- Identify, report, and mitigate hazards
- Promotes and participates in Altitude’s ‘Monthly Safety Meetings’ via a Teams call
- Adheres to all applicable Altitude, Local, State and Federal safety standards and safety requirements
- Wears all required protective and safety equipment while performing tasks that require it
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical distribution and transmission systems, including conduits, cables, wires, and related equipment, such as transformers, circuit breakers, and switches.
- String wire conductors and cables between poles, towers, trenches, pylons, and buildings, setting lines in place and using winches to adjust tension.
- Open switches or attach grounding devices to remove electrical hazards from disturbed or fallen lines or to facilitate repairs.
- Climb poles or use truck-mounted buckets to access equipment.
- Place insulation or fireproofing materials over conductors and joints.
- Identify defective sectionalizing devices, circuit breakers, fuses, voltage regulators, transformers, switches, relays, or wiring, using wiring diagrams and electrical-testing instruments.
- Inspect and test power lines and auxiliary equipment to locate and identify problems, using reading and testing instruments.
- Start engines, move throttles, switches, or levers, or depress pedals to operate machines, such as track hoes, backhoes, digger derricks, lo-drill, air drill, forklift, cranes, skid steers, line pullers, or line tensioners.
- Take actions to avoid potential hazards or obstructions, such as utility lines, other equipment, other workers, or falling objects.
- Locate underground services, such as pipes or wires, prior to beginning work
