The Denver Sheriff Department is the largest Sheriff Department agency in the state of Colorado and is comprised of many divisions and diverse operations with over 1000 uniformed and non-uniformed staff members. These operations include two separate jails, security for the District and County court systems, state inmate transportation, extradition duties, fugitive and K-9 units and security at Denver Health Medical Center.

We are now accepting applications for a Plumber to join our Maintenance Division. This position will have a stable schedule of working 4 consecutive 10 hour shifts. Because this position does work in the detention facilities, the selected individual will be working around persons in custody.
Our facilities operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so applicants must be flexible and willing to work various shifts. The main duties of this role will be to support the installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing and related building systems. This role is responsible for ensuring all work is performed in compliance with applicable codes, safety standards, and organizational procedures.
The ideal candidate brings strong troubleshooting abilities, attention to detail, and the flexibility to assist across multiple trades.

Successful candidates must complete and pass a background investigation that encompasses the applicant's employment and criminal history.
Job responsibilities will include:
- Perform preventive maintenance, repairs, and general servicing of plumbing systems and fixtures in compliance with applicable codes and organizational standards
- Install, modify, or upgrade plumbing systems and fixtures for new construction, tenant improvements, and remodeling projects based on specifications and code requirements
- Respond to service requests, diagnose plumbing issues, and implement effective solutions
- Inspect, maintain, and repair a variety of fire protection systems.
- Interpret and work from blueprints, sketches, and written or verbal instructions; prepare sketches as needed
- Maintain accurate records and complete daily activity reports
- Estimate materials, labor, and equipment requirements for assigned projects
- Provide support across multiple skilled trades as needed for maintenance and repair tasks

Below are the minimum requirements used to determine eligibility for this position:
- Education requirement:
Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate - Experience Requirement:
Three (3) years of experience in building operations, engineering and equipment and systems maintenance - Education/Experience Equivalency: A combination of appropriate education and experience may be substituted for the minimum education and experience requirements
