Salary: $25.00 – $30.00
Under immediate supervision, performs semiskilled work in operating a limited variety of general hauling, construction, and maintenance equipment in the construction and maintenance of county roads and other county property.
Essential Functions- Operate graders, front-end loaders, backhoes, asphalt distributors, rollers, and related equipment to maintain and repair county roads and drainage structures.
- Check and fuel vehicles, perform light mechanical adjustments, and assist mechanics in performing repairs on assigned equipment.
- Ensure all site activities are performed in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to safety regulations and established operational procedures.
- Immediately report safety-related incidents.
- Display and maintain a professional decorum at all times.
- Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and housekeeping tasks as required.
- May drive dump and water trucks.
- May blade roads and spread gravel and rock using graders.
- May distribute asphalt using specialized equipment.
- May make and grade road shoulders, bridge headers, shape ditches, and install culverts using grader.
- May perform various manual tasks involved in repairing roads and bridges.
- Perform other related duties as may be assigned.
- Safety-mindful; demonstrate a good safety record.
- Dependable and reliable.
- Good troubleshooting abilities (mechanical and electrical).
- Ability to communicate with managers and other employees in person or electronically.
- Good interpersonal skills; maintain professional demeanor at all times.
- Detail-oriented and organized.
- Willingness to work early morning and late evening shifts as required.
- Willingness to work overtime as required.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2-5 years of experience in mining equipment.
