Position SummaryUnder general supervision, performs skilled repair work in overhauling, repairing and maintaining a wide variety of diesel and gasoline powered automotive, stationary engine/power generation, and earth-moving construction equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Performs visual and mechanical tests of vehicles or equipment to determine the nature and extent of repairs needed. May use electronic diagnostic equipment.
- Assist in training personnel in standard job methods and procedures, proper use of tools and equipment, and safe working practices.
- Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on construction equipment, generators, trucks, trailers, and small equipment.
- Perform general repairs found on preventative maintenance inspections.
- Perform DOT inspections in accordance to Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.
- Adjusts, aligns, or replaces chassis parts, such as steering assemblies, brakes, wheels and axles.
- Maintenance and repair of stationary engine and power generation equipment.
- Maintains tools and equipment in proper condition by cleaning, sharpening and oiling; keeps work area in a neat and orderly condition.
- Perform related work as required.
- Must be able to perform safety sensitive functions.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum 4 years' experience in repair and maintenance of gasoline/diesel vehicles, construction equipment or power generation.
- Any equivalent combination of certifications, education, or experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities for the position.
- Must possess one Automotive or Truck ASE certification at time of hire.
- Must be able to possess and maintain a valid Class 'R' Colorado driver's license and have a satisfactory driving record at time of hire.
- Must possess four Automotive or Truck ASE Certifications within 6 months of hire.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Class 'B' Colorado Commercial Driver's License within 6 months of hire.
- Must possess DOT Inspection certification within 6 months of hire.
- Must possess State Emissions certification within 6 months of hire.
- This is a safety sensitive job where an employee's direct action/inaction may lead to immediate harm to self, team, or the public and/or will have significant risk to the mission of Denver Water. To promote the safety, employees in this job must possess English proficiency adequate to effectively communicate with customers and coworkers, including proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
