The City and County of Denver offers competitive pay commensurate with education and experience. In this position, you will report to the Roslyn Campus (5440 Roslyn St, Bldg. (Asphalt Plant) Denver, CO 80216) at the beginning and end of each shift. During the day, you will work at the Roslyn throughout the Day City and County of Denver as needed.

Street Maintenance, a division within the City and County of Denver's Department of Transportation and Infrastructure, is responsible for keeping Denver's streets and alleys safe, clean, and reliable year-round. The division oversees a wide range of essential services, including pothole repair, milling, paving, patching, alley maintenance, and citywide street sweeping. It also operates Denver's asphalt plant, which produces the materials necessary to resurface and maintain the city's transportation infrastructure.
In addition, Street Maintenance leads Denver's citywide snow response program, ensuring timely and efficient snow removal to keep roadways accessible during winter weather.
To support these critical operations, the Street Maintenance team is currently hiring for an Equipment Operator III (Crusher / Screener). This is a unique position; in that it will be responsible for operating a stationary recycled asphalt crusher/screener.
Job duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Ensures compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations, and with company policies and procedures
- Visually observes and monitors gauges and all equipment while in operation to maintain proper flow of material on belts, crushers, and screens
- Stops equipment immediately when any blockages occur and obtain assistance when required
- Directs front end loader operator and hauling operator to ensure efficient material production
- Coordinates with asphalt plant operators on production targets
- Performs routine maintenance on conveyor belts including replacing idlers, pulleys, drive belts, and bearings, screens as well as other parts. Cleans equipment and job site as required, and assists with more complex repairs as needed
- Shuts down specific machinery or entire plant machinery in the event of an emergency
- Complete and maintain daily log and maintenance checklist of production hours, daily tonnage, gallons of fuel used, and mechanical inspection frequencies
- Operates medium-sized specialized equipment, including front-end loaders, skid steers, and a variety of construction and maintenance equipment. Utilizes attachments designed to perform specialized tasks in conjunction with the equipment's operation and function. Ensures the safe and efficient operation of equipment and work-related tools.
- Inspects vehicle for loose parts, damaged or worn tires, proper air pressure in tires, and other items affecting its safe operation and completes a pre/post trip inspection as defined by federal guidelines and City policy
