Electromechanical Technician
The Electromechanical Technician builds automated packaging equipment from the ground up and supports advanced packaging and automation solutions that improve efficiency and accuracy across pharmacy, eCommerce fulfillment, and mailing operations. This role focuses on machine building, customization, and retrofits, while performing root cause analysis on complex electromechanical systems. The technician reads and interprets blueprints and electrical schematics, executes change orders, and performs preventive maintenance and repair activities on automated equipment.
Candidates must provide and use their own tools on the job.
- Build automated packaging equipment from the ground up, including complete machine assembly and integration of mechanical and electrical components.
- Perform detailed electromechanical assembly for custom and automated packaging equipment, ensuring accuracy and adherence to specifications.
- Execute machine builds, retrofits, and change orders, modifying existing equipment to meet evolving operational and customer requirements.
- Read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and electrical schematics to plan and execute assembly, wiring, and installation tasks.
- Conduct thorough root cause analysis on equipment issues and system failures to identify underlying problems and implement effective corrective actions.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and electro-mechanical systems, diagnosing issues with wiring, controls, sensors, and mechanical components.
- Perform preventive maintenance on automated equipment to maximize uptime, extend equipment life, and reduce unexpected downtime.
- Carry out repairs on packaging and automation equipment, replacing or adjusting components to restore proper function and performance.
- Collaborate with engineers, problem-solvers, and other technical team members to support continuous improvement and innovation in automation solutions.
- Support customization of automated equipment for pharmacy, eCommerce, and mailing operations, ensuring equipment meets unique customer and process needs.
- Use personal hand tools and test equipment safely and effectively, including crimpers, wrenches, pliers, multimeters, and other listed tools.
- Contribute to process improvement by identifying opportunities to streamline assembly, maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Provide informal leadership or mentorship to peers when applicable, sharing technical knowledge and best practices in a collaborative environment.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area on the shop floor and follow safety procedures and standards in a climate-controlled facility.
- Participate in voluntary overtime as needed to support production schedules, new builds, and ongoing R&D initiatives.
- Strong technician background with extensive power-up and debug experience, able to immediately contribute at a high technical level.
- Hands-on automation experience working with automated equipment and packaging systems.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and electro-mechanical assemblies and systems.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and electrical schematics accurately.
- Experience with machine building, including assembly, wiring, and integration of electromechanical components.
- Demonstrated capability in performing root cause analysis on equipment and system issues.
- Skill in performing preventive maintenance and repair on automated machinery.
- Comfort working with and bringing a complete personal tool set, including crimpers, wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers, multimeter, and other listed tools.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work within a team of engineers and technical professionals.
- Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to work independently on complex technical tasks.
Skills & Qualifications
- 5–7 years of electromechanical assembly, machine building, or similar automation experience (preferred).
- Lead or mentorship experience in a technical environment, with the ability to guide and support other technicians (preferred).
