Job Description:
Midwest Drywall isseeking skilled and experienced Commercial Foreman Carpenters to join our team.
As a Commercial Foreman Carpenter, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating construction, installation, and repair of structures in commercial buildings. This role involves supervising a team of carpenters. Your ability towork and manage a team efficiently will be critical to the success of our projects.
Responsibilities:
- Project Planning:
Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, and construction teams to understand project requirements, blueprints, specifications, schedules,and scope of work. Develop and organize daily and weekly plans for carpentry, framing, drywall, and finishing activities. - Crew Supervision:
Lead andmanage carpenters, assigning tasks, ensuring on time completion of tasksand quality of work. Provide guidance throughout the project. - Carpentry & Framing:
Perform and oversee carpentry and framing activities as needed, including layout, installation, and modification of building materials such as metal studs, drywall, backing, blocking, ceilings, and other related materials. - Drywall & Finishing:
Oversee and perform drywall and finishing work, including hanging, taping,finishing, patching, and repairing drywall as required. Ensure finished surfaces meet company and project quality standards and are properly prepared for subsequent trades and finishes. - Blueprint & Layout:
Readand interpret blueprints, architectural drawings, specifications, and project plans. Accurately lay out work and verify dimensions, elevations,and locations prior to installation. - Materials and Equipment:
Coordinate materials, tools and equipment required for the project. Keeptrack of inventory and ensure that all necessary tools and equipment are available on-site. - Communication:
Maintain clearand effective communication with the construction team to provide progress updates and address any issues or concerns. - Safety Compliance:
Promote and enforce company and project safety policies and procedures. Conduct or participate in toolbox talks and safety meetings, identify potential hazards, and ensure all assigned personnel follow required safety practices and procedures. - Documentation:
Maintain accurate records of project progress, material usage, and any changes madeto the original plan.
Skills and
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as aforeman carpenter in commercial construction projects. With previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of carpentry techniques, construction methods, tools, equipment, and materials.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction plans.
- Demonstrated ability toperform and oversee drywall installation, finishing, repairs, and related construction activities.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Physical strength and staminato handle the demands of carpentry work.
- Ability to work varying schedules and travel to project locations as required.
