Job Summary

Alarm Detection Systems is seeking an experienced Fire Alarm Technician to join our team. This position is designed for a skilled technician with hands‑on experience installing, inspecting, testing, servicing, programming, and troubleshooting fire alarm systems. The ideal candidate can work independently, interpret drawings and code requirements, identify and resolve system deficiencies, and confidently interact with customers, contractors, and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs).

This role requires a strong understanding of NFPA standards, life safety systems, and industry best practices, along with a commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and customer satisfaction.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Install, inspect, test, service, and repair fire alarm and life safety systems in accordance with NFPA standards, manufacturer specifications, engineered drawings, and applicable codes.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Install and bend conduit proficiently.
  • Perform installations and service work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Program, configure, diagnose, and troubleshoot a variety of fire alarm systems and related equipment.
  • Identify code deficiencies, system impairments, and non-conformance issues and recommend corrective actions.
  • Verify system functionality and complete pre‑testing prior to AHJ inspections.
  • Coordinate and attend rough and final inspections with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs).
  • Prepare, review, and maintain records of completion, inspection reports, work orders, and other required documentation.
  • Perform service calls and corrective repairs while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Participate in the on‑call rotation and respond to after‑hours service requests as required.
  • Provide technical support and training to customers on the operation of fire alarm, security, CCTV, and access control systems.
  • Complete required manufacturer certifications and factory training, including Honeywell and Fire‑Lite product training.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and properly stocked company vehicle and comply with all company vehicle policies.
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures and properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain professional communication and positive working relationships with customers, AHJs, vendors, and coworkers.
  • Maintain required licenses and certifications, including CSA Denver License.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
