Job Summary

The Field Service Technician is responsible for performing on-site inspections, troubleshooting, documentation, and minor repairs of medical equipment within healthcare environments. This position will inspect equipment for potential issues, access internal components as needed, document findings through detailed notes and photographs, and perform minor repairs within the technician’s scope of work.

When additional or more complex repairs are required, the technician will communicate findings and coordinate with internal teams, manufacturers, or other technical resources to support resolution.

This is a hands-on, travel-based position requiring strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work professionally within active healthcare facilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform scheduled inspections and evaluations of medical equipment at customer locations.
  • Troubleshoot equipment to identify visible, mechanical, electrical, or operational issues.
  • Safely remove and reinstall equipment covers, panels, and other components to access internal areas for inspection.
  • Perform minor repairs, adjustments, or component replacement when within the technician's approved scope of work.
  • Take clear and detailed photographs of equipment, internal components, damage, deficiencies, and completed work.
  • Document inspection results, equipment conditions, troubleshooting steps, and recommended next steps.
  • Identify conditions requiring additional technical support or more extensive repairs and escalation findings to the appropriate team.
  • Coordinate with internal service teams, project managers, manufacturers, or other technical personnel regarding required repairs and follow-up work.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment information, including model numbers, serial numbers, parts, and service activity.
  • Complete and update required daily reports, project documentation, photographs, timecards, and work status information.
  • Follow manufacturer instructions, company procedures, customer requirements, and applicable safety standards while performing work.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and replacement parts necessary to complete assigned work.
  • Communicate professionally with customers, facility personnel, coworkers, and management regarding findings and project status.
  • Complete assigned projects in a high-quality and timely manner while meeting the scope of the assignment.
  • Maintain cleanliness and professionalism while working in active healthcare and patient-care environments.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Skills and Abilities
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to safely disassemble and reassemble equipment panels, covers, and components.
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment and identify potential mechanical, electrical, or operational issues.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical systems, including AC/DC voltage and electrical safety.
  • Experience using common hand tools and diagnostic tools such as multimeters and voltage meters.
  • Ability to follow technical documentation, service instructions, diagrams, and manufacturer procedures.
