Job SummaryThe Residential Coordinator at Irving Street Women’s Residence (Irving) is directly responsible for the management of the facility during their shift, the service provision for participants in the program, assisting residents with maintaining their housing in the program, and helping them obtain community housing upon exit. This program is a HUD‑identified Safe Haven serving up to 25 unaccompanied women, transgender, and gender‑neutral individuals experiencing chronic homelessness with at least a mental‑health disability in a 24‑hour residential program.
Service modalities include Housing First, Trauma‑Informed Care, Harm Reduction, Motivational Interviewing, Crisis De‑escalation, and Critical Time Intervention. The Coordinator supports and coordinates with the Residential Case Manager to deliver housing stability and support services, maintains safety and cleanliness, provides life‑skill classes, maintains client files, and enters data in program systems. The Coordinator will also develop specialty areas such as housing, employment, legal services, benefits, or others as indicated by program needs.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Ensures that the resident’s voice is heard and, when appropriate, the resident’s ideas play a prominent role in programming.
- Possesses an in‑depth knowledge of program requirements, referral processes, support services, allowable costs, best practices, the coordinated entry system, and HUD permanent supportive housing standards within a Safe Haven Model.
- Demonstrates knowledge of resident‑specific resources and a passion for serving those experiencing homelessness, contributing to program‑wide objectives.
- Develops, directs, and monitors the implementation of quality Housing First/CTI‑based supportive services tied to housing stability.
- Co‑ordinates with the team to deliver services most appropriate to meet resident needs and assists in relocating residents and securing emergency housing.
- Maintains confidential records of all client interactions, eligibility, and demographic information, ensuring timely reporting within data entry systems and hard‑copy files in accordance with grant guidelines.
- Maintains the confidentiality of all information and participates effectively within and across teams.
- Maintains physical and emotional safety of all residents, managing the milieu and addressing conflicts immediately.
- Assists in supervision of volunteers and performs general house maintenance tasks.
- Serves as coordinator for holiday projects and other special projects.
- Provides coverage at other facilities and participates in scheduling staff for open shifts.
- Attends staff meetings and training as scheduled, performing all duties in accordance with the Social Work Code of Ethics.
- Performs job responsibilities with predictable, consistent attendance and all other duties as assigned.
- Part‑time evening (12 hours) position:
Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, 6 pm–10 pm.
While Coordinators are on duty, they are likely single‑staffed and, unless otherwise covered, are expected to stay at the facility for the entirety of their shift. All full‑time staff are considered “essential staff,” requiring presence on scheduled shifts regardless of holidays or inclement weather. Full‑time staff are also required to participate in an on‑call rotation approximately every 4–6 weeks, answering calls for coverage issues for an entire seven‑day period.
They receive a $100 stipend and any overtime worked. Part‑time residential coordinators may volunteer for the on‑call rotation.
- Associate’s degree in a related area or equivalent human services experience.
