Safe House Denver has been around for 48 years, and we are on a mission to improve the lives of domestic violence survivors. We guide community awareness through education, partnerships, and inclusion. We are currently looking for a Residential Support Staff with strong organization, time management, and crisis intervention skills to support our work as we prepare to serve more survivors in greater ways.

• Respond to callers who access the 24‑hour crisis line, providing emotional support, crisis intervention, and de‑escalation.
• Provide information and education on domestic abuse, trauma response, and coping skills.
• Assess immediate needs, identify culturally appropriate resources and referrals, and help callers develop a plan of action.
• Support safety planning, assessing danger and risks, and implementing the safety plan.
• Screen callers for shelter eligibility.
• Conduct initial intake of new residents, orienting them to the shelter building and program.
• Appraise residents’ presenting problems and assess immediate needs.
• Facilitate safety planning and provide crisis intervention during intake.
• Provide short‑term advocacy, counseling, and crisis intervention.
• Set short‑term goal plans to address immediate concerns and assist residents in achieving those goals.
• Communicate with Primary Advocates to ensure quality services to residents.
• Maintain a safe and secure shelter space and a respectful community living environment, including conflict management and problem solving.
• Provide house meetings when needed to resolve ongoing issues or conflicts.
• Support residents in meeting day‑to‑day needs by supplying personal items, shelter supplies, and food.
• Maintain accurate, timely record‑keeping and charting.
• Demonstrate initiative and vision for service quality, improvement, and prevention.
• Work diligently to achieve individual, team, and agency goals and objectives.
• Coordinate services with all staff both within the Shelter and across all agency programs.

• Education:
  
  Associate’s degree in social work or related field preferred. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Experience:
  
  One or more years in a related role; preferred two years of experience.
• Skills:
  
  Crisis intervention and trauma‑informed care, strong communication, and problem‑solving skills.
• Technical:
  Advanced proficiency with MS Office.
• Other:
  Ability to work in a diverse environment, passion for the Safe House Denver mission, adaptability, and strong interpersonal skills. Bilingual strongly preferred.

• Hourly pay: $22 with annual performance evaluations and potential merit-based increases.
• Part‑time position, non‑exempt.
• Work hours:
  
  Weekends, holidays, and overnight shifts.
